You know how some animals mate for life? What do they base their attraction on? Are they like us and take into account looks, personality and all those other things? Or do they just find someone as soon as they're old enough, procreate, and just live...

together?

yep, quite a few animals do it
Gibbon apes, wolves, termites, coyotes, barn owls, beavers, bald eagles, golden eagles, condors, swans, brolga cranes, french angel fish, sandhill cranes, pigeons, prions (a seabird), red-tailed hawks, anglerfish, ospreys, prairie voles (a rodent), black vultures, and some penguins are just a few
what they base it all on varies
it could be the one with the strongest/loudest voice, biggest mane (like for lions) colours of skin and feathers ect also play a part, size of certain parts of them, ...usually its not physical attraction but things like those...things that identify them as strong or leaders, ect so the female will feel safe and ensure that her babies will survive
