Why do I smell like ammonia down there?

Why is there an ammonia like smell coming from my vaginal area.

A fishy smell or ammonia smell is a symptom of bacterial vaginosis.

It could be possibly from a sexual transmitted disease, if you have a watery discharge (maybe the reason your underwear is damp) could mean genital herpes, often herpes is not visable in women and only the change is discharge is noticed.

Either way, see your OB/GYN for diagnosis and treatment.

my momma said that you sweat everywhere skin is... you do have skin on your vagina, so that means that you sweat down there too. some women have a powerful sweat odor so they have to put on some special deoderant under their arms (armpits). you might have a powerful vagina sweat odor. my momma also told me to put deoderant around it. not ON it, but around it. if you put the deoderant on it, it will burn like crazii. I dont put deoderant on mine anymore because I was waisting my deoderant because I didnt ever need it. but im just trying 2 help u

WHAT CAN I TAKE OR DO AT HOME FOR THE ODOR I CAN'T AFFORD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. I DO HAVE ODOR MY UNERWEAR GET DAMP WITH AN ODOR. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A CUT ON THE TIP OF MY VULVA IS THAT HERPES? I HAD AN EXAM LIKE 21/2YRS BUT THEY SAID NEG FOR HERPES MAYBE BECAUSE I PUT A LITTLE POWDER DOWN THERE BECAUSE OF THE ODOR THEN IN THE WAITING ROOM WAITING TO BE SEEN I GOT A PAPER TOWEL AND WASHED MYSELF DOWN THERE WITH SOAP AND WATER.THE PERSON THAT TOLD ME TO GET CHECKED HAD HERPES SO HE TOLD ME TO GET CHECKED
COULD THAT BE WHY IT WAS NEG. BECAUSE OF THE POWDER AND SOAP? THE BOY TOLD ME I NEED TO BE TESTED WITH MY BLOOD? I EVEN ARGUED WITH THE DOCTOR THAT I HAD SOMETHING BUT HE SAID I HAD NOYHING. TO THIS DAY I STILL HAVE SYMPTOMS BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. WHAT ABOUT THAT PACKAGE YOU CAN BUY OVER THE COUNTER BY VAGISIL WOULD THAT TELL ME IF I HAVE HERPES OR SOMETHING ELSE?
