Try and find a new therapist. It's quite possible that you and your current one don't click.

I think you need a new therapist or need to talk more to your current one
when the conversation goes dead,
the 2 of you should be working out a way to answer the question
she should come up with some related questions that explore the question a bit deeper
and you can have a hard think,
and open your mind a bit more to how you really feel and whats going on
its not worth going if your not learning anything new about yourself or opening up much
so if you cant do this with your current one, start seeking someone else!

A good therapist is able to spot avoidance, sometimes they will let it go if it seems to be distressing the person, and they'll bring it up at a later time, or they'll push for an answer if it needs to come out. In addition they usually deal with resistance and keep after the person... If that isnt happening with your therapist then you need to change therapists... If you dont know how to answer a question, she really should rephrase or explain it...
