Would whites seem racist if we had white history month?

Asked by fau 9 months ago, 17 answers.

It's just kinda strange how there's black history month& and something like mexican history ...I don't know I have no problem with it.it's like kinda not fair..white people have done great/memorable things..
Do you think it should be taught in...

schools & if so why dont they teach us about other
Historys?
I think it should be taught in schools because it is important to learn about it so it's not as easyy to repeat things from the past

racist you mean, and I often after myself that same question. I believe it is racist to have a black history month. History is history and it isn't history if you just concentrate on one portion. Yes I am sorry if this affends anyone but history is every part of the past not just black or white

haha this isn't the first time I've heard this asked. But no personally I wouldn't find it racist.

The only reason I think we have black history month and hispanic heritage month in the firsy placw is cause blacks and Latinos aren't potrayed in the media and aren't noticed for our great accomplishments as much as whites are. Since the majority of the united states consists of white people, you guys are already are in most of the media and are studied about in school. So what would be the point in having a white history month?

White history is what is mostly taught in school. That is why we promote black and Latino history because it has been so negleted in the past.

Well, I'm not sure which side to take on it. Because both are argumentive. White people get noticed for everything that they do. Look at commercials. How many black/mexican/asian.. and so on.. do you ever see on commercials? Black people have really come a long way, and so have hispanics. But it's easier to look at black and hispanics and see how far they've come because white people have never really had to struggle for anything the way the others have. White people dont have their own tv station because it would be racist, and we cant have our own college funds or our own churches because it would be racist, so in that sense, it is definitely unfair to white people. But it just depends on your perspective of it.

It's simply to do with nothing other than giving any minority group a little push to the front. That's why its also ok to have a Miss Black America but not a Miss White America. It's not racism, it's making a special effort to promote minorites.

In Canada, the french language is dying. There are people in Quebec who have spoken french all their lives, and the last thing they want is to lose their language and culture... so the french language in that province is held up high and there are laws in place to make sure it's used as much as if not MORE, than English. Some signs are completely French. It's forced... for fear that it will one day die completely..

I think we've had White Male History Centuries, not just months. If everyone else gets a month to themselves it just begins to make up for the centuries they've been ignored.

I don't think it's the fact that there is no "white history month" or whatever... History is taught in schools everyday so there is no reason to feel discriminated or racist or anything. No one said that their couldn't be a white history month but I've never seen people pushing for one to have. I mean, we have columbus day and presidents day to observe those things.. they were white...

dude every day is white history month in the US. they made black history month because black people have contributed to american history but most of it is all about white people. why would you want a white history month? almost everything you learn in school is about how this country was started (by white europeans)
