Some of the questions like "Cutting" and suicide questions are so sensitive that the individual might receive misleading or harmful answers so they are not permitted.

Other types of questions like "Am I Pretty" Fun Mail me, Be my friend, etc., are just annoying questions that aren't really questions. That's also why "statements" are deleted (they don't have any question content).

ratemypic.com
amihot.com
and so on
if people want people to tell them they are hot they should go to a site like that

because some questions are either not even worth asking (be my friend, am I pretty, whos john cenas girlfriend, the later being the most dumb question ever made)
while others should be taken care of from specialists like cutting or other serious problems.

I don't know. you should ask the admin about that.

Exactly my point. Now look at the credentials of the people giving advice on this site.
Retired taxicab drivers and 13 year olds. What do you expect from them? Being retired , or divorced a 100 times and having grand children, does not give you the almighty right to dispence advice. But that's what democracy is all about.

I have the right to reject their advice and get on with life, but you have the right to take it and make a mess of it . That's what democracy is all about.

"If you are not with us. then you are against us" (thanks to dubya) is THE most stupidest of statements ever made since mankind started using speech to communicate. And the same kind of attitude is being displayed here by the dude and his band of 13 year olds (and of course retired taxicab drivers) by banning bamboozer who was one of the most intelligent participants on this site.

If the user failed to adhere to the terms a of service to which we all agree to upon signing up and using this site, then the admin absolutely have the right to ban a user.

If you don't like it... go invent your own ""advice site"" with you're own rules. Have fun with that.

gwenferns,

I looked at your profile and don't see that you have listed any "credentials". I, on the other hand, did list my "credentials" on my profile. The error is that you perceive of them as credentials or qualifications. That is not what they are or are meant to be.

Information posted in profiles is meant to give the viewer a little insight as to where that person's opinions come from. It is information on background so that the viewer may judge whether or not to place any value (for themselves) on the opinions.

As to the almighty right to dispense advice, that is a right that is given to each member on Fun Advice as long as they abide by the Terms of Use. If you want to get technical, democracy has nothing to do with it. It is a right granted by the proprietor of this site (thedude) and can be revoked at any time if a person starts becoming abusive or violates the site's policies.

The only attitude being displayed on this site is the attempt, by positive actions, to perpetuate the site. That not only gives benefit to thedude, as owner, but also to the rest of the members as participants on a site that we enjoy.

I don't know how intelligent bamboozer is. But, intelligence has nothing to do with being allowed to use this site. Only following site policy and showing respect for the members is required to participate. If you wish to find out why bamboozer was banned, you might Fun Mail editor and in the privacy of a Fun Mail she may supply you with an answer.

If you have any problems with me or my advice, please feel free to Fun Mail me.

Ted

You could leave too, you know. Assumptions are the foundation of ignorance, and generalizations are based on assumptions. And you speak of 'intelligence' ...how very contradictory.

***'If you are not with us. then you are against us' (thanks to dubya) is THE most stupidest of statements ever made since mankind started using speech to communicate.***

That was random, and pointless. There have been many dumber statements, and Bush didn't coin THAT particular one, its been around long before him. Oh, and Bush-bashing has nothing to do with the thread topic. Try to follow the rules and stay on topic...

Funny... never heard of them, and I'm one of the popular kids... I guess they didn't leave much of an impression.
