Well, if you shave your hair, it's very possible that that is what is causing the itch. Shaving can be very itchy.
Also, shaving down there can actually increase your chances of getting infections, and it's possible that you have one. The female genitalia is supposed to have some smell, but it should not be a very strong fishy smell that you have to worry about other people smelling from across the room or anything like that.
So my advice would be to see and ob-gyn to see if you have an infection. You also might want to stop shaving. If you really feel the need to remove some hair, you can try just trimming instead.
I think you could have a yeast infection or something you should go to a doctor and talk to them about it or talk to your parents
hmm I no im a guy bab I think you got an infection.. if I was you id go see a docter asap
I hope this helps...
the first thing you need to do is stop washing all the time. I know it sounds crazy, and opposite of common sense, but it is the truth. Here is the reason:
Your body has a natural balance of chemicals that it uses to fight off infection or anything else that might grow in your vagina. When you constantly wash, it removes the natural defenses your body provides and opens up the area to any bacteria or fungus that wants to go live in there. That is what you are smelling, the waste products of the bacterial life-cycle. You don't normally smell like that, it is an infecting bacteria or fungus.
This was learned by a woman (a medical doctor and research scientist) who was studying the spread of AIDS in Africa. One of the things she learned was that washing constantly, especially with a harsh soap or other cleaner will increase your chances of infection. Just let your body deal with the problem on its own. Eat healthy and don't eat anything with a lot of sugar, and be sure to drink plenty of water. You can wash, but just rinse with water, or better yet saline solution because it's more like your body fluids. You can get it cheap at the drug store in quart bottles, I think. Seeing a doctor is probably a good idea, too. Keep in mind, though that the doctor might give you antibiotics to take which might solve your problem for the short term, but if you use them too much it makes your body less able to fight off infections on its own. Good luck!
it sounds like you most likely have a yeast infection...I would recomend eating plain yogurt...yes I know sounds bad but it can really help and also drink plain cramberry juice without any added sugar,
been there done that most likely you have BV and its common and its caused by many things you do need medication for it and can't have s@x for 3 weeks and it would be advised to go to an obgyn for this matter and the other people are way wrong on this I am pretty positive of it .
I know that this doesn't answer your whole question, but as for the smell part of it, I do have an answer. Its called 'Sweet Spot' its this company that manufactures a small line of womens care for their sweet spot. When you use their combination of wash and spray once daily when showering it will fix that problem. Its specially formulated with the CORRECT ph balance for that specific area. That area's ph is different from the rest of our bodies. This cleanser is more gentle and smells refreshing but not heavily perfumated. You will notice a difference in as little as a week after straight use. I know I did. I could tell that it wasn't dry, itchy, smelly, wet or anything else abnormal about it. I do know that it enhances the experience with your intimate partner for them as well as for you not feeling self conscious. Its not very expensive at all and it last's you a couple of months! Another pro about this product is that you can use the wash for all over or just restricted to that one area. They even sell handy wipes you can carry with you whenever you need to restore the balance on the go. Here is their website: http://www.sweetspotlabs.com Hope this helps!
All you have to do is dip a tampon in plain yogurt and leave it in overnight. Problem solved. I've done it and it WORKS.
dont do that.. yogurt spoils if its not in a cold area,... ew
To sort out a yeast infection, dip a tampon in some PLAIN LIVE yogurt with a drop of lavender pure essential oil mixed in.
Use 1-2 drops of oil for each application- the exact amount of yogurt isnt really important but a teaspoonfull will dilute the oil so you dont risk being irritated by it.
The yogurt should be fresh yogurt because the active acidiphilus etc that are in the live yogurt die over time after manufacture- dont use fruit or sugared yogurt- it must be palin and it must be the live kind, Live yogurt has things like acidophilus in the ingredient list.
Remove and replace 3-4 times a day for 2 days.
If you dont want to put a tampon in there, you can just push some in a little way with your fingers - a bit messy but wholesome and effective.
Dont eat sugary food for a few days- and leave the soap alone till you are better.
For the future, remember that the inside of your lady garden cleanes its self . If you clean the outer side of the 2 grooves with a mild soap, rinse it off really well.be really carefull not to let any soap get inside you. I have a half- flannel for this purpose and wash it well in boiling water so that its sterile for next time.
Now you have your bottle of lavender oil (costs £ 2-£3 from Holland and Barret, tescos, evolution, Neals yard- etc), put a few drops in your bath from time to time to help keep you healthy down there!
sorry- remove and replace for 1 day is usually enough,
its thrush, a yeast infection, nothing to worry about. you need to use canestan cream for the itching and canestan tablet for the internal infection. LIVE YOGHURT does not work so don't waste your money. its usually cause by tight fitting clothes so don't wear tights, tight jeans etc and wear cotton only underwear. if your having sex make sure you treat your partner too.
your 13 and you boyfriend goes down on you! Girl, why not wait till you know more about life... like what a yeast infection is!
what are you doing letting your b/f go down on you when you are only 13!
your infection is from the Gardnerella specie..a kind of bacteria..look for it in the net for more info..
you need to take showers wash it up see a doctor that might help a lottt more
BAHAHAHHAAA! FISH! Sorry thats just funny, Maybe if you tried taking a bath and shower every day (Like 2 showers and one bath each day) you might not stink as bad
Ignore those who have made jokes. Their idiots.
It sounds like you have Thrush (yeast infection) is could be caused by the type of underwear you use (you should wear cotton undies as it is breathable), or antibiotics, best thing to do is talk your mum and / or go to the doctors.. A strong smell as you describe is quite unusual
it could be because you have a yeast infection...I would advise going to the doctor... and forget about the people making jokes they are just immature losers that cant find anything better to do than pick on others problems... but you should see a doctor...
I think you got a yeast infection or proabably when your on your period you drink milk, eggs, cold things like ice cream, or your barefoot while on your period.
-good luck
alexa
maybe you contacted a std and you should go to the doctor and get it checked out cause it can be a number of things a and if you wait to long you can have complications later on in life so go to the doctor
maybe you are having a harmless decease...
Sorry for you - so many wrong answers
It could be a STD - so seeing the doctor is not a bad idea.
Most women have les serious but very irritating problems:
Bad smelling discharge is usually caursed by an inbalance in the vaginal bacteria. It is NOT a question of more washing - normally the more the worse!! Normally it does not have other symptoms like pain and itching.
Itching is often the yeast infection.
We do have natural remedies for this. The best I know is LadyBalance, a vaginal tablet strenghtening the vaginal health. It vcan be used without restrictions and it helps for most woman. http://www.ladybalance.com
um that sucks... you could have a bacteria infection... that really sucks... take a hot bath with detol in it... its like really good antibacteria stuff... wish you luck... that really sucks a lot...
maybe yeast infection???...
Yeast infection! Common name - thrust
DONT WORRY!!! See a Doctor and they will give you a tablet to fix it.
best things to help:
no sugar or very liitle sugar (yeast feed on sugar)
bread is bad, vegemite is bad. tomato's - bad
yoghurt is good
lots of yoghurt - natural yooghurt is the best with plenty of good bacteria (its an imbalance of good and bad bacteria)
cranberry is also good (you can drink cranberry juice or get cranberry tablets)
inner Health plus capsules are good too!
wear cotton underwear. Do not waer tight clothes (pants). Put on a skirt - let your vagina breathe.
do not wash with soaps/deoderant etc. - just let plain water run over and wash
do not wipe hard- fuwill further irritate.
see a doc and they'll give you a tablet to fix it.
yeah so a couple of months ago I had the same problem...and it hasnt really gone away...use vagisal cream incase its a yeast infection, thats what I had, the cream is something you can by at like cvs or rite aid...it stopz the itch and the cream has a fresh smell so you wont smell...k good luck!!!
honey first of all you dont need to be having sex at age thirteen. second of all it could be a std. but lets hope not lets just hope its a yeast infection go to walmart and get some monstate it really good its cream that you put up inside of you for like seven days and if that dont work then you really do need to go see a doctor for your best interest... honey just be safe there is to much stuff out here going around. and your to young to sexually active...

Well, if you're sexually active it could be Trichamonais or something. It's symptoms include a fishy smell and itching. If you're not sexually active, you could have BV (Bacterial Vaginosis). Either way you need to see a doctor and let him know you're symptoms because either one can cause other problems if left untreated. I must warn you though...there is a possibility that you won't be able to get rid of the BV no matter what you do or the medications you take for it. Trust me, I know :-(
I would say just get a fish shaped belt buckle
lmao, 'morthius' comment made me giggle.
well, you certainly shouldn't be having sex at 13
I had it at 14 and I regret that to be honest.
it's just slaggish to be having sex at that age.
and two, maybe you should wash more often and you wouldn't smell, my boy mate said you should maybe use soap and stuff as no lad likes a smelly fanny
- his words not mine aha.
I agree with everyones comment on here, bad and good as some made me laugh you slag
- good luck anyways x
hey I have hair down there too!..it's normal...and if your worried about your boyfriend smelling it...don't worry it smells because of the hair..the hair makes it sweat a lot...that makes the smelly smell
some advise...when your showering make sure you wash your vigina really good...and if your going to have sex...right before that wash it so then if he does smell it...it would smell like soap...then he will know you wash it and are a clean girl
because ya using soap wots perfumed try shower gel
she never said she was going to have sex and he was going to go down on her
Wow..a lot of not so helpful tips or comments! It's true that you can clean yourself to much. Limiting sugar intake, drinking lots of water, cranberry juice will help you in the future with this. Also white cotton croch undies are best to wear. It's best to go to your doctor to see what's going on with your body now. If your not sexually active (as you stated your not) then it wouldn't be an std of course. If you have before though then that would be something to be concerned about... could be something as simple as a bacterial infection or something that could damage your body forever. Your mind and body are not prepared at this tender age. What's the rush anyways? There will always be boys, plenty of time to find the right one, when your older. At the very least, pleae find a woman that you can trust to confide in, to help you understand what's going on with you body as you mature. Be well
Don't you people read? She has not had sex or done anything with her boyfriend so back off that crap. It's not an STD.
There is a new product made by vagisil - it is a testing kit that can tell you if you have a yeast infection. Go buy one at CVS and take the test, it's very simple. If you have one, buy vagisil cream and the infection should clear up in a few days.
Antibiotics don't work for yeast infections - I'm not sure where these people above have gotten their info. In fact, when I have been given antibiotics for sinus infections in the past, they have also given me diflucan to precvent the antibiotics from CAUSING a yeast infection.
Cranberry juice is for UTI's urinary tract infections, not yeast infections.
You are 13 so you probably don't need to go to the gyno just yet. Hopefully you can talk to your mom or an older sister. Just know that the fish thing is a woman thing and we've all been there.
Good luck to you and don't worry too much.
maybe something such as bacteria, etc had gone it. you should try using Guava (or other herbal) soaps to wash, make
sure you are washing properly. drink lots of water.
I am not a girl but I was told by one if you wipe your pices upward you can get pices in your vigina and if you use that method frequently that would probally be the reason why
Dont worry girls, it does not sound serious and your Doc can give you something that will quickly clear it up.
Sensible thing to come on here and ask for advice but ignore the pathetic comments and jokes on here at your expense.
You may only be 13 but you are far more mature than those on here having fun about waht must be a very serious concern and worry for you.
Be strong, ignore the fools and hope that this has all been sorted out by now.
I've noticed with two different women. 1 in the states and 1 in JAPAN. That there is this pungent sex smell as we get into it that is a complete turn off for me. I had sex with quite a few other women and didn't smell it so I think it is just with some women, but I've ran into twice now and it can be very disturbing, for me newayz. Ladies, please make your flowers smell flowery :P just playing, but man, it stinks when I come across it.
honey you could have a bacterial infection. you dont have to have sex to get this. I have a aunt who also had this as a child she was also told she may not get to have children that it could have made her infertal, but today she has to healthy children. you need to go to the doctor as soon as possible this a pretty serious thing cause im pretty sure that one day you want children I hope that you have at least told your mom so she can help you find a gyno and go with you. I ve been told some of the reasons for this is natural but also a issue of wiping. dont wipe back to front this puts waste in your vaginal area causing infection and also wash your hands before and after.I hope this helps you and I hope take care of it soon. a doctor is your best help. ashley
dont take anti-biotics it makes it worse it attacks the good bacteria and causes the yeast to grow so dont take it because you will kill your good bacteria inside of you because the anti-b kills the bad bacteria and think about it your vagina will kill the good bactreia thats why its not good do dush all the time it kills both bacterias and your vv is a self-cleaning machine.
You probably have bacterial vaginosis. It just means by washing so much you messed up the natural bacteria that is suppose to be in there and you were more succeptable to infections and bacteria. Go to the doctor for antibiotics and it should go away in about a week.
wow,I am 13 andd I am not obsessed withh cleaning itt andd mione itches to but just leave it alonne morea and ittlll go away, DUH :/
Im thirteen..Mine smells like that too but only on my period and it itches sometimes down there also. I really dont think there's anything wrong with you.But if you think it smells that bad you should buy a vaginal deoderant from a drug store, or schedule an appointment to the doctors office.
hope I helped, xo angie
I have the same problem. girl your not alone on this one.
What it is is BACTERIAL Vaginosis...You either need to get antibiotics, and stay away from sex, tight underwear, and bubble baths for awhile. Good luck chic...that really sux!!!
Here ya go:
Bacterial Vaginosis
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common cause of vaginal discharge. The discharge is not usually itchy or sore. It is not a sexually transmitted infection. Symptoms are often mild, and it may clear without treatment. A course of antibiotics usually clears BV.
What is bacterial vaginosis and what are the symptoms?
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common condition of the vagina caused by an overgrowth of various bacteria (germs). It is not just a simple infection caused by one type of bacterium.
The main symptom of BV is a vaginal discharge. BV is the most common cause of vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age. The discharge is often a white-grey colour, and often has a fishy smell. The smell may be most noticeable when having sex. The discharge tends to be heaviest just after a period, and after having sex.
The discharge of BV does not usually cause itch or soreness around the vagina and vulva.
Many women with BV do not have any symptoms (up to half of cases). These women may be found to have BV by chance when vaginal swabs are taken for other reasons.
Note: BV is not the only cause of a vaginal discharge. Various conditions can cause a discharge. For example, the second most common cause of a discharge is due to thrush which is an infection caused by a yeast called candida. Unlike BV, thrush typically causes a thicker white discharge which tends to cause itch and soreness around the vagina and vulva.
What causes bacterial vaginosis?
BV is not caused by a single bacterium (germ). In BV, an 'overgrowth' of various bacteria occurs in the vagina. It is not clear why this happens. Normally, there are a number of different types of harmless bacteria in the vagina. These bacteria help in the defence against harmful germs (such as candida which causes thrush). In BV, there is a change in the balance of the normal bacteria in the vagina, and certain bacteria multiply and thrive much more than usual. Some bacteria become much more prominent than they normally are.
Doctors describe these changes as ' a change in the bacterial flora of the vagina from mainly lactobacillus species to high concentrations of anaerobic bacteria.'
BV is not caused by poor hygiene. In fact, excessive washing of the vagina may alter the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina, which may make BV more likely to develop.
Who gets bacterial vaginosis and how common is it?
At least 1 in 10 women have BV at some time in their life. It may be much more common than this as many cases are mild and cause no symptoms. (BV is at least twice as common as vaginal thrush.) Any woman can be affected by BV. BV is more common in women who have an intra-uterine contraceptive device (IUD). One study found that about half of women using an intrauterine contraceptive device had at least one episode of BV over a two year period.
Is bacterial vaginosis a sexually transmitted disease?
No, BV can affect any woman, including those who do not have sex. No bacterium is passed on that causes this condition. Sexual partners of women with BV do not need any treatment. However, some cases of BV seem to be sexually 'related'. It may develop after a change in sexual partner. In these cases, the infection is not 'caught' from anyone. However, a change in sexual partner may affect the balance of normal bacteria in the vagina.
How is bacterial vaginosis diagnosed?
The typical discharge, and its characteristic fishy smell, makes BV likely.
The discharge of BV has a typical acid level (pH) compared to other causes of discharge. (The overgrowth of the bacteria of BV causes the pH to change.) In addition, if an alkali is added to a sample of the discharge, it often causes a characteristic fishy smell.
To help clarify the diagnosis, a sample (swab) of the discharge may be sent for testing. Large numbers of various bacteria that occur with BV are seen under the microscope.
Other tests may be done to rule out other causes of vaginal discharge.
What are the possible complications with bacterial vaginosis?
Pregnancy. If you have untreated BV during pregnancy, you have an increased risk of developing some complications of pregnancy. For example, early labour, miscarriage, and infection of the uterus (womb) after childbirth.
Surgery. If you have untreated BV, the chance of developing an infection of the uterus is higher following certain operations. For example, following a termination of pregnancy or a vaginal hysterectomy. However, antibiotics are given before various operations of the uterus if you have BV which usually prevent these infections.
HIV. If you have untreated BV, you have an increased risk of developing HIV infection if you have sex with someone who is infected with HIV.
What is the treatment for bacterial vaginosis?
Metronidazole
A course of metronidazole tablets is the common treatment. It clears BV in about 7-8 in 10 cases. Read the leaflet that comes with the tablets for a full list of possible side-effects and cautions. However, main points to note about metronidazole include:
The usual dose is 400 mg twice a day for seven days. A single dose of 2 grams is an alternative, although this may be less effective and may cause more side-effects.
Some people feel sick, and may vomit when they take metronidazole. This is less likely to occur if you take the tablets straight after food. A metallic taste is also a common side-effect.
Do not drink any alcohol while taking metronidazole, and for at least 48 hours after stopping treatment. The interaction with alcohol can cause vomiting and other problems.
Breastfeeding: metronidazole can get into breast milk, but is not thought to affect breastfed babies. However, to play safe, the standard 7-day course with the lower dose is preferred so as a baby does not get a large dose. If it is essential to use the large 2-gram single dose then it should be taken after the last breastfeed of the evening, at the start of the overnight breastfeeding break, to limit exposure to the baby.
Alternative antibiotic treatments
Metronidazole vaginal gel or clindamycin vaginal cream placed inside the vagina can be used if you prefer a topical treatment, or have unpleasant side-effects with metronidazole tablets. Note: clindamycin vaginal cream can cause weakening of condoms. Therefore, during treatment and for five days after treatment with clindamycin vaginal cream, do not rely on condoms to protect against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Not treating is an option if you are not pregnant
BV often causes no symptoms or the symptoms are mild. Also, there is a good chance that BV will gradually clear without treatment, as the balance of bacteria in the vagina may correct itself. However, if you are pregnant you will usually be advised to take antibiotic treatment to prevent the increased risks during pregnancy if you have BV (described above).
Treating recurrences
BV recurs within three months in about half of women who have been successfully treated. If it does recur, a repeat course of antibiotics will usually be successful. A small number of women have repeated episodes of BV, and need repeated courses of antibiotics.
How can I prevent further episodes of bacterial vaginosis?
Most episodes of BV occur for no apparent reason, and cannot be prevented. However, the following are thought to help prevent some episodes of BV. The logic behind these tips is to try not to upset the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina.
Do not push water into your vagina to clean it (douching).
Do not add bath oils, detergents, bubble bath, etc, to bath water.
Do not wash around your vagina too often. Once a day is usually enough.
dont listen to them!! just tell your parents and go to the damn doctor!!! your probably stressing more trying to solve this your self trust me just go to the doctor and the problem will be takin care of without all this omg it could be this!!! the doctor will be able to tell you exactly whats wrong and how to fix it!!! don't worry everything will be alright!!
This question was originally asked 9 months ago.
Maybe the original poster could update this?

omg did any of these people read what you wrote??? She never said her boyfriend goes down on her and how can she have an STD she said she has NEVER had SEX... Hun its probably some type of infection and can be cured just go to a doctor dont be scared to talk to your parents about it... the longer you wait the worse it will get...

LMFAO
dude if I get a yeast infection,.
I just eat lots of REGULAR yogurt, and change panties more often.
dont sweat it.

I'm going to collage to be a docker and I'm in my 5th year. The first person who posted on here was correct.
(heathenscum)
to riken. If you're going to college to be a doctor, I would advise you to learn how to spell college first!
Hi,
Yeast infections do not usually smell fishy. Contrary to what others may say, yeast usually smells of old potatoes.
If you smell a 'fishy' odor around a vag*na it is usually related to a trichomonas
infection and is associated with green mucous like drainage.
My understanding is that trichimonas is the only infection that smells of fish and it is generally easily treated.
Nothing to worry about if it is this but you do need to get checked out by the doctor.
PS
A woman (and a guy) can also smell of fish if they dont wash themselves after having intercourse and the sperm goes 'off'.
This site may help you understand more: http://www.wrongdiag...
Most of all, please dont worry and resist the natural temptation to keep washing yourself, this will just destroy your natural balance and make it worse.
mine does the same thing and il tell you what I do.
I take a pad, and a stick of deoderant and roll it up and down 20 times. I do the same with my underwear. and I spray some fabrese on it because it kills odors. I used to kinda get made fun of then I started doing this and no ones said anything to me for a couple weeks now.
--emm--
Hi emalyy,
This may have masked the problem but you may have an infection that needs to be sorted out.
You really should see the doctor and get checked out. You may have masked the smell but the infection could still be spreading.
Also, putting roll on deo down there is really a no no and will not do you any good.
Please get checked out as the problem is usually easily sorted.

Using a roll on deoderant will give you more problems than not. You really need to get some antifungle thrush cream and clear up the problem from the bottom up. You could go and get a check up to make sure there are no other infections going on also.
wow, somem of these people are clueless.
for most teenage girls it does smell that way.
and it usually smells that way because of being fingered, or after having sex.
just wash ; or maybe get a douche
So you obviously have not read my answer five replies above this one fau.
Women generally DO NOT smell that way normally. If it does, it is a sure sign of infection and needs to be treated.
Neither do you smell of fish because you have been fingered!
As I posted earlier: If you smell a 'fishy' odor around a vag*na it is usually related to a trichomonas infection and is associated with green mucous like drainage.
My understanding is that trichimonas is the only infection that smells of fish and it is generally easily treated.
Your comments are not all correct fau and I can see why you wanted to post them anonymously.
I READ HALF THE ANSWERS PEOPLE TOLD YOU AND THEY ARE ALL BAD AND WRONG.
it is easy. I am 25 years old and I am pregnant. all the doctor is going to do is prescribe a pill to take for a few days or prescribe Miconzazole cream. That cream can be found over the counter at any pharmacy it's under about $15. Monastat. or even pharmacies carry their own brands of the stuff. It is all the same. I have had to use the cream twice since pregnancy causes excess fluids to flow through the vagina. DO not have sex while using it and do not let the boyfriend go down on you! seriously. it could be him that is causeing the wetness problem, the only other way it can occur (the yeast/bacteria infection) Is by washing to often.
Why does my vagina smell like fish?
Send me Fun Mail
my vigina smells like fish? whys that and I have not had sex or done anything and it smells really bad and I am embarraced to see my boyfriend incase he can smell my vigina I was my self 2 times a day down there and it still smells and it is itch but thats only the hair and I shave my pubic hairs as well and I am 13 years old
