I completely agree. I don't know if its the "in" thing, really, I just think it's a form of rudeness although it could be a game called "I'm a busy and important person" - not sure. When my brother in law visits my husband, he leaves our house without saying goodbye. LOL. It's kind of funny now... Usually we just see his car pulling out of the driveway and say, "um, I guess Dave just left..."
ahaha...neat question. I dunno really...but it dose annoy me when people dunt say "bye" I suppose it's due to stuff like msn, myspace, facebook...and stuff...you can just comment on things witout saying "bye"... people get so use to it, they just seem to forget the word. but as for me I always say "bye"...well on the phone at least... to my boyfriend =) anyhooo... byeee =)
I would have been in such big trouble if I didn't say good-bye when I was leaving someone, somewhere or getting off the phone. My parents taught me to always say good-bye.
I do the say to my adult children (raised them to say good-bye) and grand-children to say good-bye.
I remember making one of my sons call someone back and telling them he was sorry for not telling someone good-bye when hanging up.
I think it is because parents are not paying attention to what their children are saying and teaching them proper manners.
Sometimes today I think the parents want to be and talk more like the kids then to set an example of being polite.
lol I know a lot of people who refuse to say bye. they say it seems final like they'll never talk to that person again. when I get off the phone with my friend and I say bye, she always says aight and hangs up. this other guy preferred to say later.
as far as getting offline without saying bye, one reason is bc if its gotten quiet and you havent talked to the person in like 20 mins you dont want to b like ok im gone bye, bc its like clearly the conversation is over and everyone's moved on to other things so your going to have your box pop back on their screen and interrupt what they're doing to say bye when the convo's already over lol.
so thats why some people do it
I honestly don't know why either. And something like that for me is nails on a chalk board when someone doesn't say bye. Also the word "Whatever" especially when we're in the middle of an argument tends to p**s me off because it's like you're saying, "Yeah, I'm right and anything you say I can ignore because I don't care."
