Hi,

Although humping is considered a sexual action, it can also be used to signal power and rank. Dogs do, in effect, employ humping as a way of asserting authority.

Sexual:
- Sterilizing (Spaying) your female dog will decrease the humping by (on average) about 60%. It will also help you stop any unplanned pregnancies/puppies, in an already-overpopulated pet society.

Power:
- Managing and retraining a dominant dog can help reducing humping, of people, at least. The message transmitted to the dog is one of having to work for what he wants and needs. This program catapults owners into a more respected leadership role, elevating them, in the dog's eyes, to an immune-to-humping status within the family pack.

As long as the dog feels like she is below you in the ranks, she will no longer try to dominate you by humping if that is the reason.

I agree with the general tone of the above answer (I can't comment as the the specific frequency by which humping is reduced when a dog is spayed - every k9 is different).

Re-training the pup will work to generally reduce or eliminate the humping and specifically, your sister should simply not allow it.

If the pup is large enough a knee blast to the chest as she starts to mount (sufficient only to the toughness of the your particular dog) a couple of times should do the trick. Mind you I'm not saying that your sister should kick the dog or send her flying across the room, but the force should be ample enough that the dog knows that humping her (or any other human), should never be on the agenda. Two to three times should be more that sufficient.

If the dog is small try saying "no!" as she begins to mount and catching her paws in mid air. Say "no!" again and hold her there for about five seconds. Pups don't like having their paws off the ground when they are not in control. It makes them fell vunerable. an extremely uncomfortable dog may even nip to get you to let go so be vigilant! Again, a couple or three times of this should make the dog try to find better things to do.

No!this can't be happening!maybe she likes your sister.Just everytime she does that, hit her,not that hard.but there she will learn that everytime she does that, you are going to punish her.if you are too scared of doing this,go to the vet and tell the vet why does your dog do that only with you're sister.OK!
