Why do we respond this way?

Why is if you give Americans a complete lack of info they can amaze you with their lack of curiosity?

I think that you should know, at your age (same as mine, btw - and welcome to FunAdvice) people are different all over.

In New York, they're very different than Oregon, or California, as those are the only three states I've lived in.

Well I won't agree with you but I will give you a story, My husband and I went to Jamacia and we were treated so nice ( No tipping allowed) and still the people were very plesant and nice to see everyday, well we get back into the states and we are at the airport ( layover) and we got food in the airport, I got a burger that I need mustard for, well the stand did not have any and I asked the next stand where my husband got his food and I was told NO. I lauged and said you have got to be kidding me, I asked to see the manger and she came out from the food place I bought by food and after about a 2 min. conversation, I finally go a tablespoon of mustard. So I understand how you feel, but we are not all that way, but we are a much worse then most countries. If you don't think so, go to a mall and hold a door open for people and keep a percentage of how many will say "thank you"
