Why did my desktop turn black?

For some reason my desktop turned black and it says that windows has spyware on it. What is spyware and how did it get on the computer? Did it just come on while I was here or do you have to download these things? My little brother was on the computer...

earlier and he denies downloading it. What is it? I can't change my desktop back.

Download Spybot and Adaware SE and you should be able to get rid of all spywate, or most of it. Also if you restart your computer in safe mode and ruture to a restore point PRIOR to the day things got messed up (and then run spyware and Adaware) then things should be fine.
