Plane makers Boeing Co. and Airbus Industrie have bombarded their aircraft with cell-phone frequencies and discovered no interference with communication, navigation or other systems. One likely reason that no problems were found: cellular phones don't operate on any of the frequencies used by airplane systems.

You know the phones that the planes have on board? Guess what - they use standard cell-phone technology. There has never been a cell-phone related incident causing problems on a plane. Ever.

The FAA didn't ban it. The FCC did.

The reason why we can't use cell phones on airplanes is because they tend to interfere with the equipment and, also they interfere with the pilot's radios.
The airlines tell you as soon as you board the plane that all cell phones, beepers, ect. should be turned off while in the air. You can turn your cell phone back on when you arrive to your destination.
Hope this helps.

You can't really use your cell phone that well on a plane anyways. Most provides will have no service in the skies because your way above the reach of there cell towers. Its like trying to climb a huge mountain and expecting to have service. Won't happen
