Asked by ejwj33092 about 1 year ago, 4 answers.

My best friend has SAD ( social anxiety disorder) and her mom is crazy and wont let her see a therapist. she can only talk to me and a few other friends but anyone else she turns BRIGHT red all over her face and chest, like it really isnt normal. this...

is pretty much ruining her social status of having a lot of friends. since her mom wont let her see a professional ( to maybe prescribe medication) what can I do in the meantime?

There is a support group for people with SAD online (use Google cause I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to any website here). Your friend could ask questions and learn to overcome her situation.

Do you mean?
Seasonal affective disorder is caused by the brain being unable to create enough of particular chemicals when sunlight is short. (melatonin and stuff like that)
It is actually helped immensley by getting out during the daylight hours. You can also get daylight simulation bulbs to put on in the house during Autumn and Winter months.

Dear ejwj33092,
Making a diagnosis yourselves is never a good idea. There are several reasons as to why a person will turn red in the face when speaking with strangers or feeling embarrassed etc. Several disorders will do this. She can always go to the school counsellor who can help. Her parents may be worried about the cost of therapy...the counsellor at school may have names where there are some free clinics. There is always help out there, it's up to her to find it.
Sue...good luck
