Dear Elf,
You know better than to quit something you love. Here is what you do..Practice an extra 1 to 2 hours a day. What will happen is your confidence level will shoot up and overcome that stage fright. Of course you will always be a little nervous thats natural, but it won't be that same scared feeling. That "fright" you feel is just a natural way of calling you to practice more..Practice so much before you go on stage that you can do all your moves in your sleep. Let me know.

Don't quit just yet! don't let stage fright cripple you in achieving your lifelong dream. You might regret it in the end!
There are ways of overcoming stage fright. Positive affirmation is one of them. Think positive thoughts and stop being self-conscious. I've come across a great story about stage fright: http://stagefrighthelp.com/Stage-Fright-Strategies-for-Actors.php
