Sounds to me like a ground nesting bird's egg (awful small for a chicken, and definately the wrong color)...a preditor maybe tried to get away with it, but dropped it...perhaps the mother bird was attacking, or another peditor might have wanted it...it probably won't hatch, but you could try to incubate it with a light bulb...Maybe check around on the internet, to see what temp an egg should be kept at...?

I found the same kind of eggs 4 of them !! They were in my husbands truck under the hood. So I had no choice but to take them out. I put them in a box with a towel under the nest. I have them under a lamp. But I do not know what else to do with them. If they hatch I will take them to wild life place. But I am clueless as for what I need to do with them now. HELP !!

think this is a bird egg but I'm not sure. It was not found in a wooded area. It was found in a yard close to a highway. What kind of egg do you think that it is?
