iMovie generally does take a long time to render. Do you know if you're using iMovie HD '06 (bluey coloured icon, looks like a clapper board) or iMovie '08 (icon looks like a hollywood star)? I've noticed iMovie '08 generally renders faster than '06, but it still takes a long time. I wouldn't think it should take all day though...
You should in general be able to stop the rendering process, but it won't quit out of the program so all your changes should still be there unless you exit the program proper. Also, check the program hasn't gone and hung on you - go to the apple symbol in the top left corner, and click Force Quit. If iMovie has red writing next to it saying "not responding", then iMovie ain't going to budge - you've unfortunately got to hit "Force Quit" and crash-close the program. If it has no writing next to iMovie, its supposedly working fine.
Else, you've got to make a choice - wait it out, hope its working and that its just doing its thing, or stop it, and try again in the hope that it will actually work.
Hope it goes okay!

What is wrong with imovie?
I have to make an iMovie for an assesment, and I added a slide of credits. It says it's still rendering, and has been like this all day.
I also added simply "Thanks for watching" and another that say "the end"
I cant save my changes because its...
still rendering, what can I do? ;(
