What is up with the mormon religion?

The mormon religion seems so strict and cult-like yet they all seem to do well for money despite the tithing. Are Mormons just rich people in a club or is there some basis to the mormon religion that escapes me?

The Bible is the word of God. I think that is all that needs to be known if there is confusion. We were discussing the details, we both agree that it is Gods word. I believe that it was perfect when it left the hands of the original authors, but gained a few minor imperfections when compared to the grand scheme of salvation. Shepard believes it is without error, even today. Piddly stuff really. We both accept it as Gods word.

Actually, I do not deny that over the centuries copyists have made errors. However, by comparing the thousands of manuscripts available, scholars can come up with a text which is 99% valid. Furthermore, I believe that the same Holy Spirit who prompted men of integrity to write His word, has also superintended over its transmission to us, so that nothing on which our eternal life depends has been omitted.

well living in utah and NOT being mormon has been a rather interesting experience for me. Mormonism is a cult. True story, they are in the book of cults...go look for yourself. they are not christian to a catholic stand point because they do not believe in the trinity (the sign of the cross) although they think they are christian. When you get converted they make you dress up in these robes and they tell you that you have a secret name that you can't tell anyone. I know this for a fact because someone who was mormon told me. CREEPY.

Has any of this in depth analysis brought any reader closer to knowing Jesus Christ? I mean really knowing and seeking Him? I sure hope so or it is all just vain babbling, and don't give me any of that crap about planting seeds like another blogger once did. Weeds were once seeds. And just so you know by definition Christianity is a cult. A better way to define Mormonism is they are a non-Christian Cult. By definition this is fair. I do not seek tolerance, but I do seek fairness.

this is a very interesting subject, I would like to shear my opinion but first I must apologise for my bad spelling and gramar, I have reasons for those but I really cant b botherd to explain:P
so on to the subject I was baptised a mormon when I was 17 years old and I was with the lds for around 3 years, I am 25 now and have bn inactive for 5 years. (just a bit of back storie)

1. sassy what you just said was wrong mate, mormons shouldnt act like that (yes I know im judging u, sorry bout that) just because someone thinks that lds is a cult or false doesnt meen they will b but raped by satan in hell.

2.I have read a lot of this page and I can tell you that I can see a lot of proud pepl posting, facts are just bn throun at them and yet they do not admit the truth, I hope your desision will not destroy your after life.

3. I dont understand any religion who thinks that a god who is never changing would change the way he organises his religion by deleating profets from the system and before you start bn proud and finding excuses and saing ' we are big pepl now and we no longer need profits because we have the all powerfull bible' then mayb you need to read all the posts again because they show me that we all still need some dude to tell us what to do, in truth we are just to dumb to understand the word of god (bible :P) by ourselfs without a man who can talk to god O_o fact is that I CHOSE not to belive that good would just get some pepl to right a book and then say...'thats it, your on your own now' if that is the reall god then I do not whant any part of his friendship cause I know I would never leave my children to fend for them selfs while I just answer the phone to them to give them a bit of cash every now and then.

4.if you do not blive in the book of mormon because you chose not to read it with an open heart then read it with a scientific brain. many places in the book of mormon were geographically corect in the book of mormon and was only found out after the book of mormon was published, tribes and so on were not a 'fairy tale', and how would a person who does not blive in evolution explain the true americans that lived in america befor them portuguesse flags were planted in it? were them pepl who had no contact with the rest of the world at that time denied the gospel? no, god was a part of theyr lifes to and unfortunatly they did not whant to know but thats a diferent storie.

5.god is jesus and jesus is god religions...na, that one is to easy best of luck to you though, I still love ya:P

6.why did god denie us the technologie he has bn giving us so rapidly latly?... the dark ages, there was nothing but death and evil in the dark ages and what was other religions doing through these dark ages? burning pepl for having diferent belifes and other unchristian like acts. when the true church of jesus christ was reunited we have now the abilety to talk at the speed of seconds to other contries, keep every one updated with what the profet is talking to god about, we can fly, create computers etc etc etc, all in the last 200 years, science has truly evolved...funny enouf it was around 200 years ago that the true church of jesus christ was reastablished, we have bn blessed with this and even though we pervert these technologies, it does make life a lot easier.

I know I am not an active member anymore, but not one day goes by that I dont regret it, and its not as easy as you think to go back and join the true church of jesus christ, satan is with me and I know he wount let go to easy, its dumb isnt it...the best and happiest years of my life was when I was an active member (boy did I see them fruits :P) and even though I know that, its still really hard to go back, my own fault really, but untill I die if I dont ever make it back, I will never denie that the only true church of jesus christ is the church of jesus christ.

We do accept everyone. We all have faults, some are bigger than others, but that does not mean we turn our back on them. The examples you gave are valid. If someone steals to feed their children, I don't think God will hold them to the same standard as someone who steals the new Ipod because it's cool. I don't think God will condemn someone if they lie to a motorcycle gang who is chasing their mother, if she is home or not. There are exceptions. But that does not make lying or stealing or any other sin ok in normal situations. God knows our hearts and our intentions. If there is the slightest bit of greed in the previous examples, He will know about it.

Im not trying to be rude or disrespectuful to mormons and their church,
but are do all mormons dress like very conservitaly?

Not all Mormons dress conservatively, but we are encouraged to. We don't where 1800 style clothing, or are required to where long sleeves and long pants. It is left to our discretion. We don't encourage revealing clothing, but do live in this century.
