I have had an addiction to roller coasters since last year and I have been to many amusement parks on the west coast short of Magic Mountain and Marine World. What is the fastest roller coaster in the world?

I've never ridden Kingda Ka or the previous record holder Top Fright Dragster. I do hope to experience a coaster like one of these one day but one thing I noticed among the coasters I rode was that height and speed do not make a ride. A good roller coaster packs excitement from beginning to end. Some of the tallest and fastest coasters I rode weren't half the ride that some smaller slower ones were. One of the problems with the up and down coasters is the ride is short. Some nice coasters last over 2.5 minutes and manage to pack excitement into the whole ride while the recent record holders go up high, come down fast, and are over in under a minute.

go to cedar point in Sandusky, Ohio. Ride the top thrill dragster. it is 420 feet high, the speed is 120 MPH and it drops you pretty much straight down. go to ww.cedarpoint.com and look at it. it is crazy.

Top Thrill Dragster hasn't been the fastest since Kingda Ka opened up at Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ) in 2005. Kingda Ka is not the fastest and tallest boasting a 456ft at its tallest with a 418ft drop with top speed at 128mph in 3.5 secs.

Top Thrill Dragster hasn't been the fastest since Kingda Ka opened up at Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ) in 2005. Kingda Ka is now the fastest and tallest thrill ride boasting a 456ft at its tallest with a 418ft drop followed by another 129ft incline with a top speed of 128mph in 3.5 secs... definitely not for the weak at heart )
