From what I understand, closed relationships mean that you only see each other. Open relationships are when you see other people, too.

A closed relationship is a closed deal - your an item. An open relationship your pretty much just seeing each other and nothing is final, possibly dating other people. An open relationship is a type of relationship without the label. Some people prefer an open relationship at first just to get to know each other more but at the same time sort of dating but not technically. If you wanted to end a closed relationship it would be called a break up - but if a open relationship ended you would probley just drift apart and there wouldn't have to be no final say.
