What is gestation period?

Hi I was wondering what is gestation period? Do puppies get that or how old untill they do

The period of development in the uterus from conception until birth; pregnancy.

I think the dog should be at least 2-years-old before she becomes pregnant.

I agree with odal...on what gestation is...I hope no one breeds at 6-months of age just because she may go into her 1st heat at that age...( that's like saying because a daughter goes on their period that it would be ok to have sex ) We all know that that is way too young for either...In my opinion, anywhere from 15 mons. & older...for a dog...I don't know if your planning on breeding or not...hopefully if you are going to breed, I'm hoping u'd be a very responsiple one...dichihuahua

I think you're getting "gestation period" and "heat period" mixed up...A "heat period" is kind of like the period girls get once a month, except with dogs it's every 6 months (lucky them! )...a "gestation period" is simply a period of time...from a puppies conception to birth...
