What is 'emo' really about?

What is 'Emo'?

I know... I know, 'Emo' has been around for a long time now and I still don't know what it is :S

Is it the hairstyles/the attitude/the clothes/the music/ I don't know?

What is Emo really about and how did it start to become a...

trend? And why are there 'Emo' posers?

Emo stands for Emotional. It's people who like...I don't know they are a bit like goths? they wear lots of black and pink and like block patterns and like cute cartoon characters? I guess I don't really know. it's basically hairstyles/the attitude/the clothes/the music all rolled into one. they are said to cut themselves, but not all of them do.

its a label used by kids your age to describe a group of people that are into the same stuff. When I was in high school we called them "goth".

As far as I can tell,Emo is about fat chicks feeling better about themselves(but not enough to not cut themselves) and sexually-confused boys wearing make-up and girls jeans,and kissing each other because they think ti's goping top shock somebody.I've yet to see an emo kid maintain their attitude once their parents have tossed out their doofy clothes and sucktastic music.

Emo means emotional and when you hear your emo if you cut your wrists then it is wrong because you can b emotional and not cut your wrists!

well not sure myself...but think its like the goth thing when I was a kid. Absolutly not what the 2 before me said...people will be people so just let them be...its a statement of person. I AM WHO I AM...and a bit of...get over it tossed in..lol

its one of the most missunderstood sterotypes by people today
especailly younger people
it has nothing to do with cutting
because cutting is in an intirely different catagory = self harm
and has nothing to do with depression either
because feelings and emotions arnt a part of sterotypes or labels
what you feel makes up who you are
not what you catergorize yourself as
