What is a purity ring? I have a lot of different rings. Can I start wearing one, and say that's a purity ring? And do you have to wear them all the time? What happens if you break the promise?

I'd say that you can wear pretty much any ring as a purity ring-it's the symbolism that really matters. You can wear it as much as you want-nothing actually happens if you don't stick to purity. It's just supposed to remind you of the promise you made to yourself to stay a virgin. I do find it kind of odd that you want to start wearing a purity ring but then ask what will happen if you break it. Nothing will actually happen, because purity rings are not magic. The entire point is that when you look at/feel the ring, you'll remember the fact that you promised to stay a virgin.

I have a purity ring. you dont have to wear it all the time. I do but you dont have too. I will take it off soemtimes and not put it back on for a feww weeks. but it's not the ring that's important so much as what it stands for... and braking the promise isnt a big deal at all so dont worry about it if you do =)

some of my friends have them and here how it works for most of them,
their parents but them and ring and say we want you to stay pure (a virgin) till marriage then they give you it and you wear it a lot so that you remember that you told them you would and then if you're thinking about having s3x then you look at the ring and be like I made a promiss to stay pure

now if you want to you can go buy one and make that same promiss to yourself if that how you feel about it. its just making a commitment that your going to stay pure

(commitment can really be between you and anyone even yourself, the ring is just the reminder)

if you break it then that just means you broke the promiss and basically let that person down =(

A real purity ring, not a cheap-feel-good ring like some of the other comments posted above, is serious. I have one that was my mom's, and it's not just a joke. A purity ring is meant to be worn 24/7, to remind you to keep yourself pure. This means, until you get married, no sex. If you wear a purity ring, then go out and have sex, and keep wearing the ring, it isn't worth anything except to look at.

I recently starting living for god, as I truly hadn't been doing before.

and I've messed up before but I've made the choice now to remain abstinent until marriage.

would it be wrong of me to wear one?
