There are two types of condoms, those for men and those for women.

A male condom is a thin latex (a type of rubber) sheath (protective covering) that is worn on the pen*s while a female condom is a sheath with a flexible ring at either end. One end is closed and is inserted into the vagina, the other end is open and the ring sits outside the opening of the vagina.

It is a form of protection against pregnancy, sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs) including AIDS.

When used correctly male condoms are approximately 97% while female condoms are about 95% effective against preventing the above.
