The Jewish people came out of Babylon, after 70 years captivity, and began to rebuild the Temple... The Star of David, or Soloman's Seal is the present symbol of Israel, and represents the Israelites, both Jewish, and non-Jewish. It is a very ancient symbol.
Judaism is a synthesis of Hebrewism, and Babylonian Mithra-ism, and came from 70 years of oppression of the people of the Kingdom of Judah, who were conquered eventually by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He enslaved the rulers, government workers, teachers, scholars, etc, and carried them away to what is now the region of Iraq, near Basra. 70 years of dominance left the Judahites barely able to retain a glint of their language, and customs. Later referred to as Yehudim (Yeah-HOO-DEEM) which means "remnant of Judah" they became known as "Jews"
It is fitting that they chose the ancient symbol of Soloman, who was a very wise king of Israel, and a very just man.
