Emo is a type of music.Short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock.Bands like "Dashboard confessional" and "Taking back Sunday".
Todays society has adopted "emo" as a label for teens who often cut themselves,or have depression.
To me,its sort of rediculous.All these kids want to be "emo",so they start cutting themselves, and showing it off,like its something to be proud of.
Kids who cut themselves often have mental problems,and need help,and so doing it to fit in,is simply rediculous.

it's type of music. but people today have made it into a "style" you may think your "emo" not all "emo's" cut themselves. actually a lot of them are just doing it and saying they are because its "cool" and its "in" these days and don't even cut themselves and aren't depressed.
you've seen them. you walk into the mall and there wearing skinny jeans bright tee-shirt (like with dinosuars or robots, or some "emo" sh*t on there) and have the "weird" hairstyle that you know that they're trying to get attention and the flats or converse on. you've seen them, trust me.
