Definition - apparently can mean either:

Main Entry: an·ni·ver·sa·ry
Pronunciation: \ˌa-nə-ˈvərs-rē, -ˈvər-sə-\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural an·ni·ver·sa·ries
Etymology: Middle English anniversarie, from Medieval Latin anniversarium, from Latin, neuter of anniversarius returning annually, from annus year + versus, past participle of vertere to turn — more at annual, worth
Date: 13th century
1: the annual recurrence of a date marking a notable event; broadly : a date that follows such an event by a specified period of time measured in units other than years <the 6-month anniversary of the accident>
2: the celebration of an anniversary

Well according to that definition, an anniversary can be celebrated every week. But that get a little old.

Here's how I feel::

1 month - yeah yeah, its nice. like "happy one month" and thats it, like dont go celebrate.
6 months - yeah kinda important. maybe a day with you and your signifigant other. whatever.

then yearly.

it really depends on the person.

Yes, anniversary usually goes along with annually, meaning the celebration of something yearly. So yeah, I'd consider it yearly... I don't know who told you weekly or monthly but they're horribly mistaken.

um well it depends in what context your using the word "anniversary"
If it was in a relationship I would go with the 1st month then 6months then a year and go half yearly from that.
If it was a death go yearly and if it was just a general situation as in liking someone weeky if you want lol im kidding c ya

Ok well.. as the relationship progresses yearly is normal. I know that in the begnning of our relationship we used to say to remind each other when it's our 3 week anniversary and so on because this new relationship for us was exciting. Then we celebrated a month and after that six months... but now that we have been going out for more than a year, it's a yearly thing for sure. So I think in the beginning stages because of all the excitement you will want to count the weeks and months and so on but as time progresses it will subside to purely yearly anniversaries.

No... the definition provided by amblessed above specifically means per year.

"annus" comes from the Latin word for "year".

There are words for specific anniversary durations, as well.

Annual - 1 year
Biennial - 2 years
Triennial - 3 years
Quadrennial - 4 years
Quinquennial - 5 years
Sexennial - 6 years
Septennial - 7 years
Octennial - 8 years
Novennial - 9 years
Decennial - 10 years
Undecennial - 11 years
Duodecennial - 12 years
Tredecennial - 13 years
Quattuordecennial - 14 years
Vigintennial or vicennial - 20 years
Semicentennial or quinquagenary - 50 years
Centennial - 100 years
Sesquicentennial - 150 years
Bicentennial - 200 years
Quincentennial - 500 years
Millenial - 1000 years

But they're ALL based on years. Nothing of a shorter measure.

honestly I think if your a teen one month is ok to atleast say good for us but six months you have to go to dinner or something and then the yearly things you need to celebrate but consistently doing something monthly is ridiculous haha
