What do I say to my friend that's been cheated on?

My friend has been calling me crying non-stop because her boyfriend of a year cheated on her. They're broken up now, and he's already going out with other girls, but shes' not over him. I don't know what to tell her when she cries, advice???

Help her with some rituals we all have to do to get over being dumped... she needs to tear up his pictures, delete all the emails... get rid of all his stuff... sounds like she's already partly there if she has a friend like you to help her through this. Good for you

My suggestion is buy some ben and jerrys ice cream get some comedy movies and spend the day with her. Thats all you can really do is try to make her feel better and it shows how good of friend you are for caring about her so much good luck!

I don't think the ripping of pictures or any other object helps... but listening to the individual is the key. Avoid giving any suggestions, because that particular individual needs to impower themselves... let them decide when their pain will end. You can't force the bottle from a drunk's hands-- you may end up breaking the bottle and cutting them. In other words, listen and be that shoulder they will cry on all night. You're just there to make sure they don't make rash decisions, I.e. hurting themselves and of course breaking things. It's a probably reason why that person brought them that stuff-- they needed it!
