Should I have sex because everyone else is?

I'm 14 years old and a lot of girls have had sex already. Should I do it just because other people have? I haven't even kissed a guy yet though.

Definitely not! Don't do it because other girls are! Only do it when you feel ready!! Loads of girls will just be pretending to look good! But my best mate is having s e x and shes called all sorts of names, Slut and slag! Don't rush into anything you don't want to do! Wait until the time is right!!

There probably aren't as many having sex that you think. The stats show that girls especially are waiting longer to have sex. Teens boast they have sex, especially the males but it shows that many aren't telling the truth but feel they must say this to look good among their peers. There is no 100% protection against pregnancy and getting an STD and that is why people are waiting longer; they want a good career and they don't want to get sick or even die from Aids. So never, ever let anyone pressure you to have sex...after all they probably haven't had sex either but feel they have to say they did.

Don't have sex untill you are really really ready and sure, don't do it cause others are. It should be a special moment... And don't worry about not kissing a guy, your time will come.

Really understand what it means to lose your virginity.
While the majority of teens remain virgins all the way through high school many teens believe the opposite to be true. All too often teen virgins see themselves as part of a minority when in fact they are a part of the majority. It is important to really value your virginty before you even think about giving it up. If you under-value it you cheat yourself out of a once in a lifetime experience.

When hormones are raging it is very easy to confuse lustful urges for feelings of true love. The sense of desire brought on during puberty is new and it can be hard for a teen to know what to do with it. Add things like peer pressure, insecurity and the quest for independence to the mix and it could spell disaster. Your only defense is to be honest with yourself about why you want to have sex.
Know that it is OK to say "no" at any point in time.
It is a sad irony that being a "tease" and being "easy" are both considered bad. These lables speak to the immaturity with which many teens view sex. Having sex is not about what others think of you, but what you think of yourself. Afterall, only you have to live in your skin, so only you should dictate what you do with it. It is always OK to say "no", you should never go against your inner guide.

Don't be embarrassed or think you will sound immature by saying no to sex. Choosing not to have sex is VERY mature. It would be immature to be pressured into something you don’t want!
Remember, having sex is a big deal and not having sex is perfectly normal. Despite what you may have heard, virgins are a majority in most high schools, not a minority.

No, you shouldn't. If you haven't even had your first kiss yet you're definitely not ready for sex. Today, a lot of girls are losing their virginity really young.

Dont have sex with someone just because other girls are. Do it when your good and ready for it. Dont let other peoples actions force you to do something. Its called "Peer Pressue" everyone goes through it in their youth. Im only 16, but I've been through it all. Almost. So dont do it. Because your ONLY 14. You have your whole life to live. Id wait for that one special person.
