Either you believe creationists, and both sprang fully formed from nothingness.
OR
You believe in Evolution, which states that species evolve a tiny bit at a time, so
the chicken evolved from an earlier form that was very similar but not quite the same. That 'earlier form' had a mutation in it's DNA either in it's gametes, or in the egg DNA itself.
So the egg had to come first. And that egg was slightly more "chicken-y" than all previous eggs.
(And tastes delicious at breakfast.)
Simply a Rose to brighten your day,
And maybe lessen the cares in your way;
And also, too, to help you to know,
That in knowing you, many others grow!
Welcome to Fun Advice!
"Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
The egg
.
It was laid by the female of a species. During its development it developed one or more evolutionary traits that started its distinctiveness as being a little different from the creature that laid it.
Those traits aided in its survival and growth and were therefor passed on to future generations.
Future generations kept evolving with additional survival traits until eventually the complete chicken had evolved.
But it still had to come from an egg, so the egg came first!
