Am I getting vaginitis again?

Asked by emmymichelle about 1 year ago, 6 answers.

Over the last 10 years, I have not had sexual intercourse until just recently. In fact, 3 months ago. Since then, I have had this burning, itching, etc on my Vulva. I went to the doctor and they tested me for everything and only found that I had BV. ...

She treated me first with Bactrim because initially the doctor thought I had a urinary tract infection but when the labs came back it was positivie for BV. Anyways, she changed the medicine to Cipro, I took Cipro for a few days but the symptoms did not go away. Then she went ahead and changed the medicine again to Clindamycin (both pill and vaginal cream). I took the full course of the Clindamycin by mouth. As of today, I am feeling like I am getting the BV again. This is so frustrating for me as I really met someone really good to me and I don't want to be embarrased of the smell and the irritation that the BV causes. I have tried douching with Apple Cider Vinegar which works for a little while but I don't want to douche everyday. I am taking B-complex, Vit E and been eating a lot of yogart. I am only 37 and I shouldn't have any hormonal changes going on but it may be possible. Can someone please advise me on a new treatments for BV I would appreciate it. Thank you. Michelle

Speaking from experience, vaginal creams only intensify the itching. I would stay away from the doctor tho. They don't look for the symptons, they only write prescriptions.

Dear emmymichelle,
First of all douching is not recommended anymore. This disrupts the natural bacteria in the vagina and this alone can cause BV. BV is the disruption of good bacteria so what has been happening to disrupt it? Latex condoms? douching? Scented soaps? personal lubricants have been know to do this also. Go back to your doctor and get a hormone test done...37 is not too early to be going through changes. Try getting rid of anything scented like soaps, pads etc. Continue to eat your yogurt and please see your doctor again.
Sue...good luck

Dip a tampon in plain yogurt and leave it on overnight. I've done this and it works. Good luck.

my friend had the same problem
It sounds like an allergic reaction. Maybe it's the condom or your partner if your allowing him to ejaculate in you. Then you have to be treated for both a yeast infection and BV soon after.Try taking a bath in baking soda once a day for a week. the baking soda netrualizes you PH. See if that helps(of course without the latex or c*m) this home remedy helped my friend.
Good luck , that's fustrating
Oh yeah and baking soda will help with that embarrasing smell.
