Guardianship causing stress

Ms. Nita Baby Asked by lavenita 6 months ago, 3 answers.

About a month ago I had asked a question concerning guardianship. Well Unforturnely I am having more problems. I am 17 and I have a 15 month old. My sister was appointed short term guardianship of me in last August of 2007. Well the papers expired 60...

days afterwards giving guardianship back to a lady in Illinois . I have been trying to get in contact with my legal guardian so she can sign the papers again. I'll be 18 in less than 8 1/2 months. The thing is I had wanted to move back to Illinois but I decided that the living in texas was way better for not only myself but for my daughter. Now that I have made up my mind to stay, things are falling apart for me. I really don't know what to do and I really need some help. Could anyone help me with some advice because this is now becoming a stress factor which I really don't need.

Do you have a job and a place to live? Take care of your (and your baby's) immediate needs first. Do you have a social worker assigned to you? If you do, get in contact with him/her. Are you religious? If I were in your shoes, I would explain my story to a local church. If they are any kind of decent congregation, they will point you in the right direction. Good choice on staying in TX too.

You don't say what it is that is causing you the stress.

Are you able to get the permanent legal guardian to grant your sister guardianship again?

Maybe you could go to the youth services agency in Texas and get some assistance from them.

Are you working so that you can financially support yourself? If so, maybe you should see about becoming emancipated.
