Too many pregnant teens!

tahoe Asked by wlite about 1 month ago, 9 answers.

What is wrong with all of these teens getting pregnant?!!! It's not that gd hard to use protection. Maybe they are all so young that they dont even know how to use protection nor know what protection is! its really very irritating and sad to see and...

hear of a child bringing another child into this world. What has happened to todays youth? Has today's society started to accept teen pregnancy? Where are these kids parents? Does anyone else find it sad that children are bringing children into this world and not being able to give that child the life that it needs and deserves? Im not saying that every teen that gives birth to a child will not be able to provide that child with what it needs, but how can a child raise a child especially when you are still in high school and obviously have a lot more to learn in life?! are you expecting your parents to raise it?

Im going to leave it at that. It really does upset me. How are you kids supposed to be responsible for a child when you yourself are still a child and a very irresponsible child at that!?!?

"Stuff happens" when you don't care enough or know enough.
I recently saw where the incident of teen pregnancies has been on the rise ever since the start of Pres. Bush's Abstinence Only education. Age appropriate sex ed. needs to start early. Starting in elementary school with teaching that certain parts of the child's body are private. How and why to use a condom in jr. high. As well as abstinence. And in high school TRUE facts about STD's and emotional effects and attachments that sex can cause. And birth control and emergency contraception.

As a parent myself, I whole heartedly would want my kids to be abstinent until they met their one true love, but I would want them to be fully equipped with the knowledge they need to be safe. And if they did become active, how to avoid having life changing decisions forced on them through ignorance.

Bristol Palin and Jamie Lynn Spears are not the reasons, they are the symptoms.
I wish both of them the very best, and thankfully they seem to have very supportive families to help them.

Take care,
Stay safe,
Practice safe sex, and, as always,
Good Luck!!

You know a lot of people think teens dont know better... and yes some of them dont... but some of them actually do know the consequences and dont care... they dont see it as a bad thing to be having a kid... this came as a huge surprize to me... It came up in my sociology of family class, this woman did a study of teen mothers, and there were a lot of reasons that teens almost chose to have these kids... they see it as a place they can get unconditional love, and if they are in the low SES bracket they dont think they're going to get out, so why not have kids... education isnt all that is needed to help end this cycle...

I would like to know the ages of the people writing these things because I am graduating this year and im not too upset to say that I lost my virginity this year and every time that it gets close to me getting my period I get so nervous and scared that I could be pregnant and I always practice safe sex, I know the consequences but so does everyone else who does it, do people only have sex when they want a baby? no thats not how things go, at any age. in todays society I find that the younger kids are the more they want to mature and grow up. this means in my head that yes they want to be like the older kids, or even their older siblings and sometimes their parents, im not saying that parents set a bad example thats not it at all, but we all teach them these things and expect them not to be curious enough to try it, they are supposed to know by what they hear and not what they do? most people learn best when they do things and that is a wierd way of looking at it but I think that it is very unfair to say that they dont know, because "teens" know its the "preteens" that we are going to start having to worry about.

Ladiee, for the ages try checking the profiles. I would guess most are approximately true. In my case it is exactly true. The only thing I disguise is the identity of my various examples, because to reveal that would be intrusive. So when I say, "... a young lady I know ... " it might be a next door neighbor, my daughter, a co-worker or his wife.

majority of teenagers are uneducated
espacially on this like sex education
they know little, if anything about what there getting themselves into
it also doesnt help that things like movies, magazines and the internet have a lot of wrong and and stupidly wrong information
that and churches dont teach anything about actual sex or what it involves
so kids dont thinik they can get pregnat
they dont know the cahnces, they dont know hat to use, how to use it, what to beleive, whats a fact, and whats not
schools need to teach kids about sex,
otherwise more and more children are going to have unplanned and unwanted babies
