Are your taste buds around your tongue piercing suppose to swell up?

When you first get it done, yes, for a few days or even a week. It shouldn't after that though. If it does, you could have an infection.

no not really, it all depend on what you eat. I've have mine done twice and my tongue only swelled up a little bit.

All tongue piercings swell to an extent no matter what you eat. Some just swell more than others.
