Thing is to be firm and committed to your plan of action - your son needs to understand that both activities are 'ok' on the toilet. Sometimes, children rebel with their bowel movements, and refuse to potty train or have accidents as a result of being stubborn about this particular issue.
The best advice is to keep your son happy and excited about going, and feeling comfortable with the whole process. If he feels like he's in control, he'll go in the toilet of his own accord. Best of luck to you.
my sisters little boy had the same problem, her idea was to take him shopping with her and let him choose his own underwear. he was so pleased with his choice he didnt want to soil them. hope this might help!
If he isnt ready don't force it or it will take more time. Some kids just progress faster.
Bowel movements just take longer than the other. It's so normal. Just give him some time. If it is taking way longer than you think, and you don't want to have to do tons of laundry every day, he might need to be wearing pullups for a while.
tell him that if he doesnt use the toilet hes not a big boy
and if that doesnt work tell him that your not going to let him go to the park
dont be mean
call the docotre
they always have ideas
or go buy a book on raising a newborn

Three year old knows how to pee in the toilet and does so on his own very well but won't have a bowel movement on the toilet. Every day he soils his underwear... Any ideas?
