What is this tickly cough from?

Asked by amethyst about 1 year ago, 1 answer.

I have a balanced diet (although I'm a vegetarian) but I come down with a tickly cough every 1 to 2 months. I can feel that it's the phelmn in my throat that's irritating me. It's clear phlemn so it's not that serious. but it's very annoying. I don't...

want to keep falling sick. Oh, it usually worsens when I'm in an air conditioned room. Actually, I didn't fall sick this often until all my classes were in air conditioned rooms. I do wear a jacket and pants to keep warm. and I do drink water and hot milk to keep it down but I still end up with this cough. Any advice? Has it got to do with the cold fresh milk or cold soya bean I drink too? I'm asthmatic too. But it doesn't feel like asthma. The inhaler doesn't help my cough anyway.

Hi amethyst,

I'm not a doctor (and a doctor would probably be the best person to see for a persistent cough). However, it's common knowledge that drinking milk does cause excess phlegm production, and if the cough is related to the phlegm, you may want to consider cutting out the milk. I've found Silk Vanilla soymilk to be just as yummy and not as full of hormones and yucky phlegm producing stuff.

If it doesn't help to adjust your diet, it could be allergies. You should see your doctor.

Hope that helps.
