Did we evolve from cavemen, or were people created by God as The Bible says?

Oh goodie, another ''Creation vs. Evolution'' thread... we can just never have enough of these.

Since nobody today was around back then, nor can they actually PROVE either; you just have to pick one... your favorite.

There are probably some cave men in our generational line...

However... Someone created the cave men...

They did not just happen into existance.

Thats kinda like, which came first...

the chicken...

Or the egg???

thats for you to decide...

some people beleave that the 7 days mentioned in Genisis is a metaphor for a much larger period of time. And that the whole story of Adam and Eve is a metaphor as well.

I personally beleave in evolution and not a word of the bible. lol.

"Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"

The egg
.
It was laid by the female of a species. During its development it developed one or more evolutionary traits that started its distinctiveness as being a little different from the creature that laid it.

Those traits aided in its survival and growth and were therefor passed on to future generations.

Future generations kept evolving with additional survival traits until eventually the complete chicken had evolved.

But it still had to come from an egg, so the egg came first!

I dont belaive in "god"
but of course we evolved from cavemen...the real question is ...did we evolve from apes...I beleive we did. and I beleive in evolution
because the enviroment that something grows in has everything to do with how something turn out and evolves into somethimng else..
things need to adapt to there surrounding enviroment.
if your going to beleive in a god, choose mother nature

There's hard evidence for evolution, and nothing but an ancient book full of superstition, myth, and nonsense in support of creationism. What's even worse than that, is the Bible doesn't even support creationism, because the creation story is allegorical rather than literal.

The more compelling of the two is obvious to anyone who looks at it objectively.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. ~Genesis 1:1
Approximately 6,000 - 8,000 years ago, God created the heavens, the earth, animals, and man in 6 days. As for what exactly God and Jesus (the Bible shows that Jesus was also there with God) did before He created everything, I'm not sure.

I don't believe in evolution at all because I just have a hard time believing that the only reason we are here is because of chance. I'd like to think that there's a meaning and purpose to why we're here and what life is. I believe God is the answer to the meaning and purpose. :]

I won't say I don't believe in god, but to me with everything I've seen and researched (including the bible), the only thing I've come to conclude is that I have this notion that religion was started as a crutch. Now before you all go house and tear me apart just think about it, how would your daily life be changed if you didn't have something to believe in, a motive to live if you will, a god and/or a higher power to say, well if I'm good and live the expectations of this being I WILL go to heaven. Now take that out of the equation and all you have are no rules, no set regulation, and chaos. Evolution is the obvious choice here, and as far as believing in god, I absolutely do, but for my crutch. Like when I'm down I can always talk to him and pray when nothing else seems to help.
Probably not what most of you were thinking but that's my opinion...

"The more compelling of the two is obvious to anyone who looks at it objectively."

A zealot look at this issue objectively? You ask too much toadaly...

There is no doubt, regardless of what the zealots say, that we and every other living thing on this planet evolved from primative life forms.

The only part that is "theory" is the exact mechanisms for how it occurs, but it is a fact that it does occur as mountians of evidence have proven.

Of course nobody really knows the true answer to this question.
I say that the cavemen sounds more logical to me than there being a god who decided to create us. I have many arguements against religion to be honest so my choice would be the evolution theory

Could I choose Bulbasaur, captainassassin? For some reason he's always been my favourite.

On the original question, I have no problem with the idea that God made us through the process that science calls 'evolution'.

I didnt envolve from no stupid ape...seriously how dumb...we are made by God...y awanna know where we evolved from how bout adam and eve, they the first people...they had kids, their kids had kids, their kids had kids, and so on til now...darwin didnt even believe his own theory!!! really he didnt...so what does that tell ya, yea' I know its everyone choice on what they want to believe in but why would you want to belive somethin thats not true!!!

"...darwin didnt even believe his own theory!!! really he didnt...so what does that tell ya, "

Three things about this. First of all, yes he did. Second of all, the theory of evolution did not begin, or end, with Darwin. Indicting him and his personal thoughts in no way discredits the enormous volume of data which supports macroevolution and natural selection. And third, I have yet to hear a creationist ever describe the details of how creation takes place. The typical response of "God just does it" puts your creator on par with birthday party magicians and casino hypnotists.

there is NO evidence for evolution. a evolutionist wanted to prove that evolution was correct and couldnt find any evidence and instead found proof that God was the creator and in the end he became saved and now spreads the Word of God. I think evolution is stupid and if you want to believe that we came here by nothing?? then thats your choice.
