It is installed with windows so no you cant get rid of it without stuffing up windows. I tried this with Internet Explorer, trust me its virtually impossible. Sorry but thats Microsoft for ya

hello nzdaniel. You have come up with an important point. To uninstall IE do as follows:
1). Go to control panel (you can find it in the start menu)
2). Click on add or remove progams.
3). In the ensuing window there is a panel to your left. Find the item add or remove windows components. A new window will open up called windows xp setup (windows component wizard)
4). In the new window, choose IE and uncheck it. Then click on finish.

As for the original question by josh. It is a difficult program to uninstall (movie maker). To successfully do it do the following

1). Open Notepad.exe
2). Copy the following into it:
@echo off
del "%SystemRoot%\system32\dllcache\*wmm*.dll"
del "%SystemRoot%\system32\dllcache\moviemk.exe"
del "%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\*.*"
rmdir /s "%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker"
pause
3). save it as abc.bat
4). restart your computer in safe mode (press f8 before the windows start up screen comes up)
5). run abc.bat
6). when prompted whether to delete, type "y"
7). when finished restart computer, thats it

8). After you are finished, delete any start menu refrences to WMM

* Make sure to copy the words into abc.bat exactly, if you change it, it could delete unwanted information off of your computer
* do this at your own risk, even though it is unlikely, it is possible that this can mess up your computer
