What do you think happened to the mayan civilization?

I was seeing this video of the Mayan civilization and in their calender it predicted the world is going to end on
Sunday,Dec 24, 2012. What do you think? and also what do you think happen to the Mayan civilization. Why do you think they vanished?

haha they were over taken, robbed and raped by the Spanish, the forced to follow their religion and killed all those "savages" who didn't agree with them
the outcome of that are Mexicans,that follow the Roman Catholic Church and many Spanish traditions

I don't think it'll end then, it was just an estimation

P.s. I'm Mexican, so don't tell me I'm being racist, I understand who I am and accept how my culture came, and I'm Damn F*ckin' proud of it too

FYI: there are still Mayan people. It is just that one large mayan city of people "disappeared". I know people who are Mayan and speak mayan. Plus, the Maya are not only in southern Mexico, they are also in central America and South America. The only reason that the Spanish had ANY power was because of some religious-nut Aztec king that thought Cortez was a god, because there was a prophecy that said that their god would come shining (like when the sun hit the soilder's armor) on an animal (like a horse). If the king had not believed that, the Spanish would have been killed.
The city of Chenitza (where one of the most famous pyramids today is) is the city where supposedly the people "vanished", but what really happened was that the Maya and the Aztecs (who were previously a tribe of the Maya, looked at as something similar to a rebellious child) were always fighting, and after the Spanish arrived, they started getting the same diseases that the Spanish came with, causing a mass death of the Mayan people.
