The inevitable "what are you doing/getting for dad's day" question

So what are ya'll planning for Father's Day?

We are going to my boyfriends parents house to have Fathers Day dinner

I don't have a dad, grew up w/o one, so probably nothing as usual. *sigh*

A phone call- we live on opposite sides of the world, and he appreciates calls more than material things.

Having said that, I also bought him a 'Ducti' brand wallet (a wallet made out of Duct Tape) for when he comes to visit me in August.

My dad wants a gym membership so we are getting that for him, we are lucky and have a really nice gym right beside our house. And we are going to KFC for dinner, he loves it there.

We were about to throw away my husband's much loved but finally demolished work boots (he had them for 20 years). I suddenly had the idea that the boys could take one each and plant it up like a plant pot, and they've filled them with hardy alpine plants from my collection. Today they're each going to make a special tag to go on the laces, to wish him a Happy Father's Day - I think the boot plant pots should make a funny gift, and a recycled one too!

For my Dad - I'm going to be with him, as I'm visiting him and my mum, who's still very ill in hospital. I've got him a French card with lots of wine bottles on it (appropriate) and I guess I'll take him out for a meal. He hates me making a fuss and normally says not to give him anything, but I think this year he really deserves some recognition for all he's doing for my mum.
