The flobots and platypus

For anyone who listens to The Flobots, you know that they make refrences to platypus. Does anyone know what the platypus may symbolize? Also, their first album was present platypus. I looked on wikipedia and it said that platypus was a symbol of gods...

sense of humor, but I don't know if thats what theyre tryign to express or say lol. So anyone know?
