Well, I know a perfect alternative so you don't use the money. It's just as cheap as anything. I know this sounds gross, but swish with Peroxide. It makes your teeth noticeably whiter after swishing just once. Just don't swallow it. If you swish with it every day, your teeth with practically glow in the dark. Just a suggestion so you don't spend a lot of money on white strips...
It depends on what you mean by "work." Will they get your teeth whiter? Yes. Will they get your teeth a LOT whiter? No.
The differences between shades of white are very, very small, and advertisers use that to their advantage. So when a product proudly advertises that it gets teeth "three shades whiter in just two weeks!" we're really only talking the difference between gray and almost-as-gray. And that's about all the results you're going to see from the strips. Not worth the money.
I was a smoker for 10 years, and towards the end, I was trying just about everything to get the yellow stains off my teeth, white strips included. If you're going to by an over-the-counter product, my suggestion would be a whitening gel with a tooth tray. A flexible tooth mold is provided that fits over your teeth, like a boxing mouth guard. You fill this with gel and leave it in for 10 minutes or so. The gel is much more concentrated than the goop on the white strips, and the fact that it's a gel means it's completely covering each tooth. It worked well for me, and as long as you don't leave it on too long or swallow the gel, it's perfectly safe.
I use peroxide and I love it. It tastes like water and it is cheap. The only thing I hate though is how it bubbles up tremendously when you swish. You def need to brush afterwards. It burns my tongue a little but I think that may be because it's pierced and it gets in the hole. But it does make my teeth whiter.

Do they really work? Which brand is the best? Are they safe? (lol, dumb question, but just want 2 b sure). How much do they cost? How long does it take until I see a change? (I'm guessing about 7-9 days)
