What do you think about tattoos?

What do you think about tattoo's? I'm getting a pretty big tattoo along the side of my ribs and I just wondered, what everyone thinks about tattoo's. Do you think they are trashy or take away the feminine look?

I love ink!!! I have 8 tats now and we have one great big huge one that willcover my entire right side from my hip to my toes. We are doing a dragon and we are going to incorporate my scars into the artwork on it.

However, I don't think tattoos are for everyone. You have to think about what you plan on doing for the rest of your life as well as are you willing to be looked at differently by other people. And odds are your family will not like it. Are you prepared for that? Getting ink is a very personal decision that should be given lots of thought. Afterall, it is there pretty much forever.

It depends what kind of feminine look you are going for. If you are going for the Martha Stuart look, you might go for the apron and craft glue instead of a tat gun. I think tattoos are fun and artsy when you are young. I look forward to regretting mine when I am wrinkly.

In response to jules..I love tattoo's and personally I see them as a personal expression of art. I think on some people they can have them really visible and it suits them..however, What I want would be covered up in any kind of professional setting or formal setting..because its along my rib cage.. on the left side..I have others..and Regardless of peoples answers I am going to get the rib piece..because I love tattoos and its something im doing for me and not anyone else...but I just wondered what other people thought. as far as if it takes away that sense of femininity a girl has...

They aren't trashy looking at all if they are done right. I have 8 and I love all of them.

You sound like you are just the right person for ink! You have the right mindset for it. My cousin owns a shop so I spend a lot of time there. I hate to see a group of people come in to get group tats. They all get the same things. I love it when someone has put some thought into it and it means something to them. Each one of mine so far represent a part of my life.

As for it being less feminine, no way. Most of the people I know love a woman with ink, tasteful and beautiful ink. Don't have a nekkid man tattooed on your rib cage,lol

tattoos are rad...but if youre thinking of getting them think very hard. I mean if you wanted to get a butterfly tattoo and then 3 years later you hare butterflies or something, all you can do is get it removed very vaguely and its very painful. I want to get a tattoo but I wouldnt want to get one until im 18 and mature enough to choose what tattoo I can really live with.

I think a trashy tattoo looks trashy, and a well done tattoo can be beautiful.

tattoos are great! I love them. get as many as you want to. it's your body so you can do whatever you want to it. tattoos are meaningful to the person who has them. often they even have stories that go along with them. they're great ways of self expression. piercings are also fantastic =]
