Normally I don't like tattoos, but I think what you are doing in your grandmother's memory is very touching. It sounds like you loved her very much. I know she is watching over you. The fairy on the cloud sounds beautiful. Please post a picture when you get it done.
I can't comment on the pain because I don't have any.
Good luck.
I have had 3 tattoos. I do not regret any of them, they are an outward representation of who I am inside and what I believe in.
sounds like the spot you have chosen will work fine, so long as it doesn't stretch across your backbone. my tattoos took a few sessions to complete -each.
as far as the pain issue- I have a high tolerance for pain, but I am very aware of how something feels, just need to adjust mentally to block it out.
what it feels like (the tattoo pain)-- to me it felt like a rather bad sunburn, very hot sensation in that area. when you understand what is going on in that spot things get a little clearer.
your body will start to react to the introduction of the needle and ink as something foreign trying to invade in a bad way. the body will rush endorphins and white blood cells via your blood stream to the area of the intrusion, all this activity will start making the area warmer, like a hard open handed slap.
the reason my tattoos took a few sessions is the detail ( shading was done with a single needle) and my body eventually denied the introduction of the ink- towards the end of a few of them- I was leaking more ink than blood, the tattoo artist would clean up and tell me when to come back next.
everybodies experience could be similiar but a little different than mine but from my perspective FELT LIKE A BAD SUNBURN.
hopefully this experience will bring you to get more tattoos ( they can be an addiction)
to me a tattooed woman adds an element of mystique that I find quite sexy, kind of makes her a little tougher in my opinion.
get it done, don't be afraid, it is one of those things that are not so bad when it is through.
beautiful way to remember someone you loved, and to always carry her with you.
hustlaahomiie,
I have 8 tattoos.
The least painful spot is your upper arm.
Thats where I got my first one and I could barley feel anything.
Some words of advice though...
If you don't expect any pain, it will hurt a lot.
If you expect a lot of pain, it wont hurt.
It all works out. Good luck.

If you have to get one, choose an area that is easily covered with clothing.
It's a beautiful tribute to your grandmother, but I'm sure she wouldn't want you to get a tattoo that might ruin your chances of landing a professional, white collar job!
I have one in the center of my back, down low. It wasn't painful and I can easily cover it up (for those occasions tattoos are inappropriate)

Tattoo.
Im getting this tattoo its going to for my grandmother who was murder a while back. So its nothing that im going to regret. Its going to be a fairy praying on a cloud the fairy will have my grandmothers face in it. [ she wasn't very old around 45 but she...
still had a beautiful face] I think it will be on my upper back. Unless I can fit it somewhere else! Anyone have any suggestions or where it would hurt less...
