No you don't have to take it out. Urine comes from your Uretha, which is just above your vagina.

Here is an illustration.

I've been wearing tampons for quite a while now, so no you shouldn't have to worry about your tampon getting soaked or something because urine has its own different area to come out of.

for whatuwantx2 - nooo, girls don't pee out of the clitoris! the clitoris is a separate organ made of sensitive tissue and hidden under a "hood" above everything else, and nothing comes out of it (except pleasure haha). there are two canals down there, below it - one is the urethra, where urine comes out of, the other is the vagina, where your pen*s goes into and the baby comes out of. see the link that sikashimmer posted.

ok, so so far people have given you diagrams, critisism and told you what was where....my advice to you....just hold the string off to the side, sometimes your pee will flow down that way so you can lift the string and hold it against your leg or sit on it or whatever to get it out of the way, that's the only part you ahve to worry about, it the string, just make sure you don't let it go by your butt, that's bad for your vagina.

theres 3 holes and no you dont have to take it out but I have found out meaning {my experience peeing with them in} is that the pee will travel down the string and there is some that will go to your tampon because it gets absorbed. I dont change them everytime I go to the bathroom like that sometimes because I dont have time and others school bathrooms are nasty lol. But I think people should.

Ok I have read everything that everyone says and medical stuff galore. Still, everytime I urinate with a tampon in, hardly anything drops into the toilet and my tampon comes out soaked and I HAVE to change it. Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

You may not have your tampon inserted correctly. Look at the insert that comes with the tampons. THe urine should not be able to even touch the tampon if it is in correctly.
