Why can't I catch a wave on my new board?

hey dudes and chicks I was wondering I just got this new swollow tail 5'10 1'2 short board and I cant seem to get up on it or even catch a wave. I had a 5'10 shortboard that was a round tail and I could shred that but I can seem to even catch a wave...

with this one so if you could let me know I would be sooo stoked. thx

wow dude stop with the shredding lingo your harshing my mellow! just chill and ride the wvae dude!!! lol sorry I had to do that! honestly thou I have no idea what you said! lol so I don't know if I can help u...surfing is a lot differetn than snowboarding sry
