Please tell me how even one of the wasted lives of our brave soldiers in Iraq has done anything for our freedom?

This has nothing to do with freedom, and everything to do with greed. And our soldiers are nothing but cannon fodder for di*k and dubya, and they care nothing about our soldiers. Just look at their opposition to giving returning veterans proper benefits.

And I did attend my towns memorial day parade, as I do every year.

A lot of people overlook this day and do not realize how much people went through to make what everyone has and how easy life is today compared to the lifetimes before. Wars use to be fought on front lawns and in people's homes and now they take that for granted and instead of visiting memorials and appreciating, they BBQ and gossip.

I can't blame them for not knowing hardship, it is actually probably what their ancestors would have wanted, them not knowing the sadness they went through.

Most people are busy worrying about what they're going to do for their 3 day vacation...
Kudos on the post, more people do need to be aware that this is a day to celebrate all the soldiers that died for this country. I'm proud of each soldier that fought for our freedom and I'm proud to be an American.

yeah, I agree with you competely the sad thing is not a lot of others do or seem to comprehend what is even hapening within the war right now or past wars to even give respect. One major reason is because they are not personally involved and don't have to see what troops have seen. People can fully understand if they are not physically there or impacted by it therefore they do not understand it. They are more concerned about their own daily lives than others who have pasted. It' actually quite sad.
