Summer jobs

Im going to have my first job over the summer at burger king. I will be working part-time, and they pay $8.00 an hour. Adults, would they take out taxes on my paycheck, or will I have $8 exact in my pocket?

I make $7.02 an hour before taxes...

any time you work for a company, like a chain, they'll take your taxes out for you. if you work freelance, though, they'll "10-99" you, and you get your full pay, but you have to pay your taxes at the end of the year. live the dream.

I do not know what state you live in but I know that when I got my first job at the 99 cent store I claimed "exempt" on my W-2 form and they took out the minimum which was only a few dollars literally!! try that.

They take out taxes no matter what! If you claim exempt like the above said, they do take out the minimum. But sometimes it's best that they take taxes out because the following year when you file your tax return you get most of the federal and state taxes back. It's cool getting a big chunk at once!
