It's actually a complicated question. No, suicide is obviously not hereditary. Suicide is an action, and no action can be hereditary, however, depression that leads to suicide can be hereditary, as is alcoholism. But it is simply a genetic predisposition to these problems (even if you get the gene, doesnt mean you will become depressed or an alcoholic). Then comes into play the environmental part, you say most of your family drinks and are hobos, well growing up in a family environment like that is also partly responsible...
One thing you need to remember is that genes dont dictate your outcome... they are only partly responsible for what happens... You've already made the decision to get help and get better... By that first step, you're taking a different path from your family members, and will most likely end up with a different outcome...
no, not at all
its not something thats passed down through genes or anything
its just one way that people deal with problems
a lot of the time, those problems could have been helped
if your worried about your family, talk to them all
start to form a stronger connection with thm, and get to know how there feeling and what they feel about things
Alcoholism may be hereditary. So, try to stay away from the stuff when you grow up. However, being homeless isn't. Try not to fall into the same cycle as your family. Cherish your life, even if they don't. I'm sorry about all of your losses, but just because some people in your family have gone down the wrong path, doesn't mean you need to follow them.

Is suicide hereditary?
like every other year someone in my family commits suicide, is it hereditary?
