Speed of light

Not nice to laugh at other's short comings Asked by ethmer 2 months ago, 4 answers.

Why is the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) considered the maximum velocity at which anything can travel?

Light is made out of photons. Photons have no mass at all, so that is the fastest possible speed. Anything that has even the slightest mass will travel slower than the speed of light.
Also, check out Einstein's theory of relativity.

because light travels at that speed...and at this time its the fastest thing to man

and we cant travel that fast

The answer has to do with relativity. As you increase speed, time slows down for you. Not only that, but you also gain relativistic mass. As you approach the speed of light, time comes to a standstill, and you gain infinite mass. This is why we can't go beyond the speed of light.

The real question then, is why is 'why does nature work like this', and why is the value of c (speed of light) what it is? These are the questions theoretical physicists are trying to unravel.

All I can say that's pretty damn fast. lol.

I doubt anyone will invent something that will go that fast any time soon.
