Does anyone have experience on the south beach diet?

Asked by anonymous100 about 1 year ago,

I read a few articles about The South Beach Diet and it sounds pretty good to me, but someone's who opinions I often value a lot told me that it is a bad idea. Should I start the diet or not? Does anyone have any personal experience with it or any advice about it?Thank you for helping.

Hi!

I tried the South Beach Diet a couple summers ago, at the urging of my father, who loves it. First things first, a common misconception about the diet is that it is very high-fat and therefore unhealthy. The Atkins diet is low - carb, as SB diet is, but high fat. It's not recommended as a healthy diet. The South Beach Diet, however, is low-carb AND low fat. Which makes it much healthier for your heart.

The way to do it is to completely ELIMINATE any starches and carbs and sugars from your diet for two weeks. This means no fruit, no bread no pasta no sugar no NOTHIN. I lived off of turkey hot dogs and melted low-fat cheese. Sugar-free Jello and water. Dinners were rough because I don't like meat very much, but all I could eat was meat and dairy and green veggies. After two weeks, you can introduce LIMITED whole-grain into your diet. I eventually quit because I couldn't STAND not eating fruit, and too much meat was making me feel gross.

However, it does work. If you can stand it, it'll be worth it-- I lost about 15lbs in a month.

Hope that helps.
