What are some good first person shooter games?

hey..when my world of warcraft game card runs out and I have no money to buy a new one..I get preeetty bored...So I was wondering if anyone could recomend some good PC first person shooters...free, or purchased, either would be great!

I here this pretty fun game
(me having not played it) im guessing its pretty fun
from what my friends say
its called " CounterStrike"
